In a remarkable display of kindness and compassion, Kano State Governor Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf has come to the rescue of Zainab Jummai Ado Bayero, daughter of the late Emir of Kano, Ado Bayero, by settling her rent bill and averting an eviction notice from her Lagos apartment.

Zainab, her brother, and their mother had been facing difficulties after being neglected by the royal family following the demise of the late Emir.

The family had been served an eviction notice by the management of Morning Side Suits in Victoria Island, Lagos, where they had been living since early this year.

“We were about to be forcefully evicted from the facility for our inability to pay the rent. They said today was the final day, and we must move out by 3:00 pm.

“You came just fifteen minutes to the time; they had already mobilized youths to remove us from the apartment. Alhamdulillah for your arrival,” Zainab expressed her gratitude to the Kano State Governor and his representative, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.

Governor’s intervention

The Governor’s spokesperson, Mr. Sanusi Bature, arrived in Lagos early on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, and met with the General Manager of the apartment, Mr. Sunel Kumar, to settle the rent bill.

The intervention followed an outcry in the newspapers by Princess Zainab Bayero on behalf of her mother and brother, who had been neglected by the royal family.

The representative of the Kano State Governor, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, stated that the Governor’s humanitarian intervention was due to the fact that many citizens of Kano felt that the matter did not portray the royal family and Kano in good light.

“They are not only members of the Royal Family, they are our Muslim sisters and brother, currently in need,” Bature stated.
