Aisha Yesufu, a well-known activist, has caused quite a stir by choosing not to stand for the recently reinstated national anthem in Nigeria.

Daily News 24 reports that Yesufu shared the video of her protest with the caption #NotMyNationalAnthem on her X account on Friday.

President Tinubu and the Legislature made the decision to revert back to the old anthem, which has sparked a heated debate.

The decision has sparked criticism from a range of political figures and netizens, with opinions divided between those who support Yesufu’s stance and those who condemn it.

Oby Ezekwesili and Comrade Deji Adeyanju have shared their perspectives on the matter. Ezekwesili has made it clear that she will persist in singing ‘Arise O Compatriots’ as her anthem.

The change has sparked a heated debate, with numerous individuals raising concerns about its necessity and the way it was implemented.
