The Kano State Emirate Councils Amendment Bill on Tuesday scaled first reading at the State House of Assembly.

This followed the adoption of a motion of Urgent Public Importance by the Majority Leader, Alhaji Lawan Hussaini (Dala-NNPP), at plenary in Kano.

Presenting the motion, Hussaini said it was aimed at moving the state forward.

Alhaji Shu’aibu Rabi’u (Dawakin-Kudu-NNPP), seconded the motion.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the House had in 2019 amended the bill, creating four additional Emirate Councils, bringing the number of First Class Emirs in the state to five.
