Kano State Government on Wednesday said it remained committed to support digital access programme for optimal political growth in the state.

Daily news 24 reports that Governor Abba Yusuf made this known while receiving a report on strategy and action plan prepared by Blue Sapphire Hub on sustainable and inclusive digital transformation.

Represented by his Deputy Gov. Aminu Gwarzo, Yusuf expressed gratitude with the strategic report presented, declaring that the state government would embrace the plan.

“Digital transformation is crucial to economic growth, social equity and individual empowerment.

“We wholeheartedly embrace the action plans and strategy documents created through this collaboration.

“The Ministry of Science, Technology and innovation serves as the podium and implementation field.

“We appreciate the suggestions to defer the ministry’s name to better reflect our digital transformation goals.

“A dedicated committee will be formulated to develop the state’s policy aligning with our socioeconomic history.

“We seek continuous support from our foreign commonwealth development office in shaping our ministry’s mandates and refining our economic policy, ” he said.

Gov. Yusuf said with the support of partners, government’s dedication and resilience of the people, the digital access programme would flourish and lead to a brighter future.

In her speech on behalf of the development partners, one of the coordinators, Maryam Lawal, presented their action plans to the state government.

“With all the presentations and calls to action, we call on the Kano State Government to review the name of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation to Ministry of Science, Technology and Digital Economy so that we can start driving towards the digital economy.

“The second call to action is for the Kano State Government to let the state have digital economic policy.”
