In a continuation of its constitutional duty, the Nigerian Senate has resumed the screening process for President Bola Tinubu’s 48 ministerial nominees.

As of today, this marks the sixth day of the red chamber’s deliberations on the candidates put forth by the President for ministerial positions.

The screening process commenced with the first list of 28 nominees, and subsequently, the Senate moved on to consider the second batch of 19 nominees.

Daily News 24 reports that President Tinubu made a replacement within the list, withdrawing the nomination of Maryam Shetty from Kano State and replacing her with Festus Keyamo and Mariya Mahmoud.

Today’s session commences with the screening of Mariya Mahmoud, from Kano State, and it is anticipated that Festus Keyamo‘s screening will also take place during the day.

Over the past week, the Senate dedicated several sessions to screen the nominees, ensuring a thorough evaluation of their qualifications and suitability for the ministerial positions.

Some of the notable nominees screened include Nasir El-Rufai (Kaduna), Dave Umahi (Ebonyi), Nyesom Wike (Rivers State), and former governors of Borno, Sokoto, Taraba, and Jigawa States.
