Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH) has once again claimed the top spot in the biannual Webometrics ranking among Polytechnics in Nigeria, as announced in July 2023.

Mr. Joe Ejiofor, Deputy Registrar of YABATECH, Lagos, confirmed this remarkable accomplishment in a statement.

Ejiofor further highlighted that the College has not only maintained its position, but it has also advanced by two steps, surpassing other universities in the ranking. This significant progress is evident in the 17-step gap between YABATECH and the second-place polytechnic, further solidifying its lead. Moreover, YABATECH has demonstrated improvement compared to its position in January 2023.

The Webometrics ranking system evaluates higher educational institutions based on the impact of their web content, top-cited researchers, and papers published on reputable research platforms online.

The goal of this ranking is to promote open access to the knowledge that these institutions produce.

Ejiofor attributed this tremendous success to the consistent support provided by the College Management to the various research units. Particularly, the Centre for Information and Technology Management (CITM) has been equipped with the necessary tools to professionally enhance the website, aiming to raise awareness within the academic community. The primary purpose of facilitating this was to enable researchers to publish their journals on relevant and high-impact platforms.

Furthermore, Ejiofor emphasised that the College had adopted strategies to enhance its ranking by increasing both the quantity and quality of its web content. These initiatives are in line with the vision set forth by Dr. Ibraheem Abdul, who assumed the position of Rector on May 22, 2023. Committed to achieving academic excellence, Dr. Abdul has established robust structures to propel the college to the highest echelons among its global counterparts.

By consistently pursuing these objectives, YABATECH has proven its dedication to delivering exceptional educational standards and promoting research activities in the institution.
