Subsidy removal: Cooking gas price fall by 6.71% – NBS

The average price of a 5 kilogramme cylinder of cooking gas, also known as liquefied petroleum gas, fell 6.71 percent from N4,369.69 in May to N4,068.26 in June.

NBS published this information in its Tuesday June Liquified Petroleum Gas (Cooking Gas) Price Watch.

In light of this, the result represents a 3.56 percent annual decrease from N4,218.38 in June of last year.

According to a state-level study, Ondo had the lowest pricing for a 5kg cylinder of liquefied petroleum gas at N3,287.86, while Kwara had the highest at N4,500.

“On a month-to-month basis, the average retail price for refilling a 5kg Cylinder of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (Cooking Gas) decreased by 6.71% from N4,360.69 in May 2023 to N4,068.26 in June 2023,” according to the report.

The news comes as the price of petrol at the pump has risen to N617 per litre following the removal of subsidies.
