Indications have emerged that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is set to appoint the immediate past Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, as the Minister of Power.

Nigerians eagerly await the unveiling of Tinubu’s cabinet, with the Nigeria Senate expected to reveal the ministerial list on Thursday.

Earlier, the Clerk of the Senate, Magaji Tambuwal, had suggested that the list would be unveiled on Wednesday, but it is still awaited, according to a source in the office of the Clerk.

However, a Presidency source revealed that the list, set to be unveiled on Thursday, would include El-Rufai as the Power Minister.

The source claimed that, El-Rufai has begun “to meet some experts he wants to work with to fix the power problem. It’s a take home the Tinubu administration wants.”

The source indicated that the ministerial list had undergone multiple revisions due to disagreements from states and stakeholders.

El-Rufai’s appointment is intended to leverage his managerial skills, as he is reportedly ready to work with experts to address the power problem, an essential priority for the Tinubu administration.

According to the Presidency source, “Yes, he’s there, as the Power Minister.”As Nigerians anticipate the unveiling of the ministerial list, the inclusion of Nasir El-Rufai as the Minister of Power marks a strategic move to address the nation’s power challenges.

If appointed, El-Rufai’s experience and track record are expected to play a crucial role in shaping and executing the administration’s energy policy.
