On Friday, June 2, 2023, a suitable and permanent mosque for daily and Jumu’a prayers will be commissioned for the first time since the establishment of the National Assembly in Abuja.
Inaugurating the 7 man commissioning planning committee in his office today, the chairman Mosque construction Committee, Senator Ibrahim Shekarau charged members to work towards a successful and hitch free commissioning.

Responding on behalf of the committee members, the chairman and member of the House of Representatives Hon. Engr Yunusa Abubakar assured on the commitment of members and thank the Almighty for bestowing this Godly assignment on the members.
He appealed to members to make sacrifice due short period of the assignment.
Other members of the committee include Hon Senator Elect Nasiru Sani Zagon Daura, Hon Isiyaka Ibrahim, Ustaz Sadiq Bala Illelah, Pharm Mustafa Muhammad, Dr Sule Ya’u Sule while Haruna Ibrahim Shekarau is to serve as Secretary of the committee.
Recall that on December, 2021, Senator Shekarau disclosed that over two hundred and eighty-seven million naira was earmarked for the construction of a mosque at the National Assembly.
According to Shekarau it had become necessary to construct the worship place considering the growing population of staff and other persons who conduct their daily businesses at the National Assembly.
Senator Shekarau equally disclosed that “the management of the National Assembly and the Federal Capital Authority (FCT) allocated plots of land within the National Assembly complex to build mosque and church to accommodate the ever-increasing staff who yearning for befitting places of worship.”
