The Kano state government has withdrawn the invitation it sent to President Muhammadu Buhari, requesting him to commission some projects in the state.

Daily News 24 reports that the withdrawal by the Kano state government is tied to the scenario of stoning and booing at the president that took place in Katsina state yesterday, where he is also commissioning some projects.

Governor Abdullahi Ganduje confirmed the suspension of the President’s visit to Kano while addressing members of the business community and members of the National Assembly from the state.

Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje while commenting on the reason for withdrawing the visit said the state government took the hasty decision in order to avoid a repetition of a similar scenario in Kano State.

“We wrote to the President telling him that his visit to Kano has been shelved and could be carried out in the future to avoid any situation from taking place.

The state government has been preparing for the president’s visit, who was supposed to be in Kano on Monday but has notified him of withdrawing the invitation.

“The state government is waiting for feedback from the presidency”, Governor Abdullahi Ganduje said.
