The management of Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria (MAAUN), Kano State, has honoured Prof. Abubakar Rasheed, the Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission (NUC,), with a twin lecture theatre, named after him.

The institution’s Public Relations Officer, Mr Adamu Gwarzo, announced this in a statement in Kano on Tuesday.

Gwarzo said the building was named after Rasheed, who had earlier inaugurated the twin lecture theatre.

He said the NUC boss had expressed delight with the management of the institution for naming the twin lecture theatre after him.

Rasheed explained that the state-of-the-art facilities at the twin lecture theatre would greatly assist the school in meeting its desire of providing requisite learning environment for achieving academic excellence.

He also lauded the Founder and Chairman, Governing Council of the institution, Prof. Adamu Gwarzo, for his contribution toward uplifting the standard of education in Nigeria and beyond.

Highlight of the ceremony was the inspection of some of the institution’s facilities including the Murtala Ramat Muhammed Library; Ibrahim Usman Yakasai Sports Complex; and School of Health Sciences.
