The Imo State Police command has dismissed seven corps for alleged extortion.

The Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Barde, disclosed this at an interactive session with newsmen in Owerri on Thursday.

He said the arrest of the police officers was sequel to complaints from members of the public that some policemen used Sienna van to pick people, take them to obscure places and extort money from them.

He said that the officers were also said to be in the habit of going about with Point of Sales (PoS) machines to extort money from members of the public.
