There is no doubt that ‘Izzar So,’ the Kannywood love-themed drama series, is currently the most watched Hausa movie on the internet.
It is available on YouTube and has become well-known in northern Nigeria and beyond.
It’s hosted on the Bakori TV YouTube channel, which has over 953,000 followers.
On average, an episode of the show receives up to 400,000 views within 24 hours of its release.
As of press time, YouTube had hosted 100 episodes of the weekly drama series.
Ahmad Lawan, a well-known Kannywood filmmaker and actor, produced and directed the film.
Ali Nuhu, Ahmad Lawan, Aisha Najamu, and Nana Izzar are Kannywood stars in the production.
In an interview with PREMIUM TIMES, Mr Lawan stated that ‘Izzar So’ is based on Islamic teaching and the ways of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
“The film, Izzar.” So it’s a win for me. I believe it is so large because it is fundamentally about how a true Muslim should behave in life and love. It is a film that has caused many people to reconsider their lifestyles.
“It was deliberate, and we did it to make people aware of and see how they should live their lives in accordance with what the prophet (SAW) has taught us.” Many people have praised me as a result of the film.
“I’d also like to tell you something I’m proud of because of ‘Izzar so’, two people have converted to Islam. The two females came from Gombe and told me they like the movie and believe they should be Muslims. They stated that they learned a lot about Islam from the film and wished to be Muslims. They have become Muslims.”
Mr Ahmed stated that he is already working on another series while continuing to give his audience the best of ‘Izzar So.’
Kannywood’s channel on YouTube
YouTube has recently become a lifeline for many Kannywood film producers and actors.
Because of the ease of access to American online video sharing and social media platforms, many actors who are not producers have become one.
Actors and producers are now creating films and hosting them on their own YouTube channels for their fans to watch.
They can earn money from the digital platform because their YouTube channels are monetized.
Ali Nuhu, a well-known Kannywood actor, claims that YouTube is a safer platform that allows his colleagues to earn money quietly.
