The Zamfara state council of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) has reaffirmed its commitment to professional and patriotic reporting of issues geared towards the attainment of lasting peace for the state against the menace caused by bandits and other nefarious activities that have posed serious challenges to the state and Northern region. 

In a press statement signed by the state chairman, Abdurrazak Bello Kaura, the union further pledged their support and cooperation to the Zamfara state government and security agencies in the state to rescue the students.

“The Nigerian Union of Journalists Zamfara State has, in the early hours of Friday, February 26, received with shock the news of the abduction of over 300 female students by armed bandits at Government Girls Secondary School Jangebe of Talata Mafara Local Government area of the state.

“The abduction of students came to the union, establishing a nostalgic situation as the state is celebrating the repentance of some bandits from diverse locations of the state through the peace initiative of the state.” The statement said:.

The NUJ further reiterates its commitment to supporting the government and security agencies in the state in an effort to rescue the abducted students.
