Terrorists have killed two people, abducted several others and set ablaze Gidan-goga market in Maradun Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

An indigene of the area, Mohammed Musa, told our correspondent that the terrorists, who were on motorcycles set ablaze the market on Wednesday, destroying goods worth millions of Naira.

“They also killed two people and abducted several others, while many people sustained serous injuries,” Musa said.

He continued, “The terrorists arrived the market when businesses were going on and began to shoot sporadically.

“This caused serious commotion as people ran for their dear lives as a result of which many have sustained serous injuries.

Musa said, “The bandits later set the market on fire and moved to the forest with the people they have abducted.”

He maintained that the number of those abducted was yet to be ascertained because most of them were not from the village.

“Most of them came to the market from various places, as such, we are yet to confirm the number of abductees, but they might be more than 30,” Musa concluded.

The spokesperson of the state police command, SP Mohammed Shehu, could not be reached on phone for comment at the time of filing in this report.
