The gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in Kano, Saadiq Wali, has expressed disappointment with the way media reports said the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had substitutes Muhammad Sani Abacha’s name with his name saying he is the legally qualified candidate.

He stated this in Kano on Tuesday while addressing a media parley organized by the Correspondents Chapel in the state.

He explained that using the term ‘substitution’ instigates a fake concept depicting Abacha as being constitutionally qualified to be there but was changed by INEC.

He said that there are processes by which a candidate emerges from a political party which have not been followed by his opponent, which is why INEC disqualifies him.

“There is no way a state chapter can conduct elections, there is no way. There is no way a state chapter can create delegates.

“No matter what they say or INEC will say, INEC. The foundation, the fundamental, is that INEC is an observer and not there to tell political parties what to do or what not to do.

“I am sacred of the media in the way they sometimes report. Imagine how a medium will say “INEC substitutes Muhammad Abacha”. How can INEC substitute Abacha? But because the intention is something else they say it.

“What was the process that brought him there initially? It was not that he won or lost election. It was not that they did everything right and INEC just substitute his name as some people from some where just come to tale it away.

“Just be objective. The objectivity is what will add proper discuss and how to encourage some of us to even do better. This will make everyone know that you can hold us accountable”.

He further revealed the sicknesses bothering governance in the state which he attributed to lack of planning and implementation.

Wali promised to institute a positive system of governance with good output when elected.
