The Lagos State Government has suspended the activities of the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN).

The action followed the bloody fight by members in clashes at Iyana Iba and Lagos Island areas.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s Adviser on Transportation, Sola Giwa, said the government would not allow the situation to degenerate.

The official announced the appointment of a 35-member caretaker committee for RTEAN.

The team is headed by Sulaiman Adeshina Raji; Bamgbose Oluseyi is the deputy chairman.

The Lagos State Police Command has deployed officers to safeguard flashpoints across the metropolis.

DAILY POST gathered that part of the demand of some aggrieved members is the removal of RTEAN President, Musa Mohammed (Maitakobi).

Meanwhile, Mohammed has suspended the union’s Vice Chairman in Lagos, Oluwaseyi Bamgbose a.k.a. Student.

The president, in a statement by Abdulrahman Amusan, said the unrest in the state was instigated by Bamgbose.
