Mr Adamson Adeboro, an Abuja based lawyer has decried unprofessional practices in the profession.

Adeboro said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Sunday in Abuja.

He said that the ethics of the profession is eroding gradually, that is if it had not eroded quickly.

“When we were trained, we were trained to respect the elders at the bar.

“For instance when you go to any gathering as a young lawyer, we were taught to stand up for older ones to sit.

“There is tremendous respect in the legal profession but today the reverse is the case. In other words, it means the education given to lawyers at the moment are defective,” Adeboro said.

He said that it appears that there is a shift in the teaching of the legal profession to another thing entirely.

“I blame it on the teachers at the university down to the law school,” Adeboro said.

He condemned behaviour of some lawyers at the just concluded bar conference and urged the necessary authorities to forestall future occurrences of such act.

“There are two trainings in law, your home training and your professional training. Obviously they need to strike a balance between both to make a good lawyer,” Adeboro said. (NAN)
