Three students from the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU) Igbariam campus have died.

According to campus sources, the students were discovered dead in their hostel.

The students were identified as 200-level students from various departments at the institution.

Obidiaso Chidera, a 200-level Political Science student, Mercy, a 200-level Pharmacy student, and Emmanuella, a 200-level Business Administration student, according to the source.

It is unclear what caused the students’ deaths, but some on campus have speculated that it was murder because they were locked in their room from the outside.

According to the sources, “the students were locked up in the apartment.” When we gained access to the apartment, we discovered them lifeless, with two of them on their beds in the room and the third in the kitchen.”

Meanwhile, the institution’s administration has confirmed the incident, stating that the students’ deaths came as a surprise to them.

In a press statement, the institution’s Public Relations Officer, Dr Harrison Madubueze, said, “The university management received the news of the death of three of our students with rude shock.” The exact date, time, and manner of their death are unknown at this time.

“However, security operatives are investigating the matter and will make their findings public at the appropriate time.”

Madubueze stated that the university was completely unaware that any of her students in the second year and above were still on campus.

“This is because the institution closed on Wednesday, August 24, 2022 after the second semester examination and will resume on October 1st, 2022,” he explained. (Daily Post)
