Sen. Godiya Akwashiki (APC-Nasarawa North) has withdrawn from the contest to elect a new senator.

Akwashiki, Chairman, Senate Committee on Employment, Labour and Productivity conveyed his decision in a letter to APC’s Electoral Committee, in Nasarawa State on Sunday.

A copy of his letter, entitled: “Notice of withdrawal from contest’’ was made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Akwanga, Nasarawa State.

It partly read: “I Distinguished Sen. Godiya Akwashiki formally notifies you of my withdrawal from the senatorial primary election in Nasarawa North senatorial district.’’

Akwashiki did not state his reason for withdrawing from the contest.

NAN gathered, however, that the senator’s withdrawal might be because of alleged doctoring of the delegates lists in some local government areas, including at Nassarawa Eggon Local Government Area, his base. (NAN)
