West Brom manager, Sam Allardyce, has explained the real reason why his club did not sign Super Eagles captain, Ahmed Musa during the January transfer window.

Allardyce said West Brom did not sign Musa because the Premier League club had run out of money having already signed the likes of Robert Snodgrass, Andy Lonergan, Mbaye Diagne and Okay Yokuslu in January.

“We’d already brought four players in, so it didn’t fall within our budget anymore,” Allardyce was quoted by Birmingham Live as saying ahead of West Brom’s Premier League clash with Manchester United on Sunday.

“More players would have had to have left to have funded that one. It’s a shame that Musa didn’t get in or come in earlier, obviously because of Covid he couldn’t make it.

“He may have been one of the four that we brought in, but because he was the fifth, it couldn’t get done.”

Recall that Musa almost joined West Brom on a short-term deal last month.

Musa is currently a free agent after leaving the Saudi side, Al-Nassr last year.

The 28-year-old forward has played in the Premier League during his time at Leicester City.
