Sen. Aliyu Wamakko (APC-Sokoto North) has donated a 500KVA electricity transformer to Mabera community in Sokoto South Local Government Area of Sokoto State.

A statement issued in Sokoto on Monday by his New Media Aide, Bashar Abubakar, said that this followed the breakdown of the community’s former transformer which had defied repairs.

Abubakar noted that this was the fifth time that Wamakko would be donating transformers to communities in the state.

The statement quoted the Village Head of Mabera, Alhaji Umar Bello, as stating that the residents of the area had been thrown into darkness in the last three months.

“The people of Mabera area have been forwarding their request to the state government for its intervention, but all to no avail,” Bello said.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the transformer was presented to the community by the Director of Administration in the Office of the Senator, Alhaji Almustapha Alkali, on behalf of the lawmaker, who is also a former governor of the state.

Alkali said: “After an assessment visit to the location, Wamakko decided to issue the 500KVA to the community, considering the number of people living in the area.

He urged residents of the area to ensure maximum protection of the transformer to prevent vandalism. (NAN)
