The Former Director,Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN),Dr Titus Okunronmu, has advised the Federal Government to harness the four untapped major sources of power to improve electricity generation.

Okunronmu gave the advice in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday in Ota.

He spoke while reacting to the unstable power supply in the country.

The Ex-CBN Director noted that the country is blessed with resources that could transform it to become one of the greatest nation in the world.

“But if the resources are not developed, the country cannot grow, saying that it is like a man who does not go to school and want to become a professor,” he said.

He listed the untapped resources that could be used to generate more power supply to include coal, solar energy, sun and gas.

Okunronmu said that God has blessed the nation with these resources which could be harnessed to generate solar energy.

The former CBN director explained that the country has sufficient gas which could be used to generate power for the whole of West Africa.

He added that the country has abundant coal, saying that China which does not have coal in abundance has used technology to develop the little coal it has to generate power for millions of its people.

Okunronmu noted that stable power galvanizes economic activities and plays a vital role in economic development of any nation.

He said this would prevent companies from moving out of the country and attract new investors, thus creating jobs for the teeming youths, if electricity is regular. (NAN)
