Kebbi State has joined other states and the world at large to mark international youth day.

The Commissioner for Youths and Sports Alhaji Gidado Kaliel affirmed this in Birnin Kebbi at this year’s International Youth Day Celebration held on Thursday.

Alhaji Gidado Kaliel said the incumbent administration of Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu has involved young people at all levels of governance and facilitated the registration of ten thousand youths to benefit from the Youths Investment Fund.

He explained that efforts were underway to train some of them towards becoming technically professional preparatory to accessing the facility.

The Commissioner announced that his Ministry would conduct a leadership training programme to expose youths to acquire various leadership skills to prepare them for an executive and parliamentary system of governance.

He expressed delight about the victory of Kebbi State for winning the National beach soccer tournament held last week, thanking Governor Atiku Bagudu for providing the necessary moral and material support which facilitated the victory.

Alhaji Gidado Kaliel also mentioned tuition fees for students, WAEC and NECO registration, and the sponsorship of qualified indigenes of the state to study medicine, pharmacy, ICT and other professional courses abroad.

The Commissioner commended youths in the state for their support and cooperation with the administration.

Leaders of youths organisations who spoke at the commemoration include the State Youth leader Engr. Ahmed Rufai Khalifa, Coordinator of YALI, Bashar Aliyu Buhari, Coordinator of 4 Emirates youths supporters for Good Governance and President of the National Union of Kebbi State Students.
