The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Osun says two people lost their lives in a ghastly accident that occurred on the Gbongan-Osogbo expressway on Sunday.

The Sector Commander, Mr Paul Okpe, said this in a statement by the command’s spokesperson, Mrs Agnes Ogungbemi, in Osogbo.

Okpe explained that the accident happened at about 12:40 p.m. in the Niger Cat area, after Babalakin Hall, 5 km away from Sasa bridge.

He said a wine-coloured Toyota Previa minibus suddenly lost control due to speeding, resulting into the death of the two passengers.

“Seven people were involved in the lone accident, which included six males and one female.

“The only female in the vehicle lost her life with a male. Their remains had been deposited in the morgue at Obafemi Awolowo Teaching Hospital in Ile-Ife.

“Two injured victims were taken to Ariremase Hospital, Gbongan, while three others were taken to an undisclosed hospital in Omu for further treatment,” he said.

According to him, the Nigeria Police Force in Gbongan has taken over the crashed vehicle and all items recovered at the spot of the accident.

The sector commander noted that normalcy had since been restored to the scene of the accident to prevent gridlock.

Okpe, however, cautioned road users to adhere strictly to road safety rules to avoid any form of accident that could lead to loss of lives and property. (NAN)
