This was disclosed in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Police Public Relations Officer of the command, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police.
According to the statement, operatives of the Command’s Special Intervention Squad (SIS) arrested the suspect, Ibrahim Hussain Abubakar, 30, of Hotoro Tishama Quarters, on December 16, 2025, at about 8:00 p.m., following credible intelligence.
The police said the suspect was found in possession of a Toyota Hilux pickup with registration number KUJ 757 MH, which was later confirmed to be stolen. Further investigation also led to the recovery of another stolen vehicle, a Toyota Camry with registration number GWA 401 MA, allegedly linked to the suspect.
Police sources added that the suspect confessed that both vehicles were stolen from Abuja, noting that investigations are ongoing to track down other members of the theft syndicate and recover more exhibits.
Commending the operatives for their professionalism and dedication, the Commissioner of Police in Kano State, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, praised their diligence and commitment to duty.
“The safety of our citizens is paramount. I urge residents to continue cooperating with us to make Kano State safer,” Bakori said.
He also called on members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the nearest police station or through the command’s emergency lines.
