The Kano State Police Command has arrested a suspected drug dealer and recovered large quantities of substances believed to be cannabis sativa during an operation in the state.

According to a statement issued by the Kano State Police Command, the arrest followed a follow-up investigation linked to an earlier operation against suspected armed robbers. Operatives of the Command’s Special Intervention Squad arrested the suspect, identified as Ibrahim Mohammed of Rijiyar Zaki Quarters, on December 15, 2025.
Police said four bags and 297 parcels of dried leaves suspected to be cannabis were recovered from the suspect at the time of his arrest.
The command disclosed that investigations are ongoing to identify and arrest other individuals connected to the illegal drug trade, while efforts are also underway to recover additional exhibits.
The Commissioner of Police in Kano State, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, commended the officers involved for their professionalism and dedication to duty. He also ordered that the investigation be concluded promptly to ensure the suspect and any accomplices are prosecuted in line with the law.
The police urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the nearest police station or through the command’s emergency contact lines, assuring the public of its continued commitment to maintaining peace and security across the state.
