Suspected armed bandits attacked Yankamaye village in Tsanyawa Local Government Area of Kano State on Saturday night, killing an elderly woman and abducting three people.

According to sources in the community, the attack occurred around 11 p.m., when most residents were asleep. Witnesses said the assailants arrived at the outskirts of the village on motorcycles before moving on foot to avoid attracting attention.

A villager who spoke on condition of anonymity said the elderly woman was shot after pleading with the attackers not to take her son. “She begged them, but they shot her and then took her son,” the source said.

The bandits reportedly entered another house afterward, abducting two women, including a relative of the local councilor.

Attempts to reach the Kano State Police Command for comment on the incident were unsuccessful, as the spokesperson did not answer journalists’ calls.
