The information was contained in a statement issued by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, who explained that the proposed budget allocates 68 percent which is N934.6 billion to capital projects and 32 percent which is N433.4 billion to recurrent expenditure. This is considered one of the state’s highest capital to recurrent ratios in recent years.

According to the statement, education receives the largest share with N405.3 billion. Infrastructure follows with N346.2 billion, while the health sector is assigned N212.2 billion.

Governor Yusuf said the allocations reflect the administration’s commitment to human capital development, improved healthcare delivery and continued investment in physical structures needed for long term growth. “These allocations demonstrate our unwavering determination to invest heavily in human capital development, safeguard the well being of our people and lay the physical foundation for sustainable growth,” he said.

He added that economic and social sectors including agriculture, security, commerce, water, environment, tourism, women and youth development and support for people with special needs also feature prominently in the 2026 spending plan.

Governor Yusuf noted that the proposal aligns with citizens’ expectations and described it as a bold but realistic roadmap for building a resilient and prosperous Kano.

He appealed to lawmakers to give the bill quick consideration, stressing that legislative support and oversight are important to turning the proposals into projects and services that will benefit residents.
