The arrested individuals, Murtala Garba Doka and Shamsu Safiyanu Lambu (also known as Shamzeet Lambu), accused the chairman of failing to complete the Lambu–Banki–Yarimawa–Jakata road project. Shamzeet Lambu claimed the project, which he said was approved for N240 million, had only seen partial work, including clearing and sand spreading, without full completion.
Reports indicate that the local government chairman reported the post to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), leading to the detention of the two men at the Tofa police station. They were later transferred to the Bompai police headquarters for further investigation.
Local youth leader Nazifi Ado Lambu confirmed the arrests, noting that the move has stirred concern among residents, many of whom have been awaiting the completion of the road project.
When approached for comment, Chairman Ibrahim Yakubu Addis said the individuals were summoned to verify their claims. He also clarified that the project was approved for less than N100 million, not N240 million as alleged.
