Chairman of the Faruruwa Security Committee, Yahaya Umar Bagobiri, said the area has been battling severe insecurity for the past three years, as bandits often storm Faruruwa and nearby villages on more than 50 motorcycles, killing residents, kidnapping people, and stealing livestock.
He disclosed that over 1,600 cows have been rustled between 2022 and now, alongside several goats, rams, and motorcycles. According to him, the repeated attacks have forced many residents to abandon their homes, with some fleeing to Katsina State for safety.
Bagobiri appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf to urgently deploy additional security personnel to protect the area. He also urged stronger collaboration between the military and police to restore peace and security in the affected communities.
