The newly established Kano State Shura Council has invited Sheikh Lawan Abubakar Triumph to appear before it following petitions accusing him of making derogatory statements against Prophet Muhammad (SAW).

The council has also summoned those who lodged the complaints, saying it intends to hear from all parties before reaching any conclusion.
Briefing reporters after the council’s maiden sitting, its Secretary and Commissioner for Commerce, Shehu Wada Sagagi, disclosed that eight separate petitions were submitted by religious and community-based organizations.
He explained that the council had carefully examined the petitions and resolved to invite Sheikh Triumph alongside the petitioners for a fair hearing.
Sagagi assured that the council will handle the matter with utmost fairness and transparency, adding that its role is to guide the government with objective and balanced advice.
