The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has appealed to the public for assistance in locating a Nigerian national, Olumide Adebiyi Adediran, who has been on the run for more than two decades over multiple fraud charges.

According to a statement released on Wednesday through the agency’s official website, the 56-year-old is wanted in connection with bank fraud, identity document fraud, and credit card fraud allegedly committed in Illinois as far back as 2001.

Investigators say Adediran attempted to cash fraudulent checks, including one incident at a bank in Champaign, Illinois, in August 2001. He is also accused of using stolen identities of American citizens to open bank and credit accounts, while allegedly engaging in wider credit card fraud schemes.

Adediran reportedly fled the Central District of Illinois in December 2001, just before his trial was scheduled to begin. A federal arrest warrant was subsequently issued on January 2, 2002, for violating conditions of his release.

The FBI described him as 5 feet 11 inches tall, weighing about 200 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. Authorities believe he may have connections to South Florida.

The agency has offered a reward of up to $10,000 for credible information leading to his arrest and conviction.

Members of the public with useful information are urged to contact the nearest FBI office, or any United States embassy or consulate.
