President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has revealed that terrorists hate Nigeria because the country has chosen tolerance, peace, and order over tyranny and violence.
Vice President Kashim Shettima delivered the President’s national statement on Wednesday at the 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York.

Speaking on behalf of Nigeria, Shettima explained that the country’s rejection of violence is shaped by its own painful encounters with insurgency as well as its respect for international law. He stressed that terrorist networks across the world seek to promote hate, division, and chaos, but Nigeria has chosen to stand for order, hope, and peace.
On the Israel-Palestine crisis, the federal government reaffirmed its support for a two-state solution, describing it as the most honourable path to achieving lasting peace. Shettima emphasized that Palestinians deserve the same dignity and freedoms as any other people.
Turning to domestic priorities, the Vice President noted that Nigeria’s quest for peace also involves difficult but necessary economic reforms. He said the administration is restructuring the economy by removing distortions such as subsidies and currency controls that previously enriched only a small group, while aiming to unlock growth and prosperity for the majority.
President Tinubu also called global attention to the link between climate change and security, urging the UN to recognize environmental challenges as drivers of instability and migration. He maintained that addressing climate change is not just about the environment but also about safeguarding global peace and security.
