Kano State authorities have apprehended 78 individuals and confiscated substantial amounts of illicit substances in a coordinated operation aimed at curbing drug abuse and criminal activity.
The announcement was made by Sadiq Muhammad Maigatari, Assistant Superintendent of Narcotics and Public Relations Officer of the NDLEA Kano State Strategic Command.

The four-day operation was a joint effort involving the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), the Nigeria Police Force, and the Kano State Joint Task Force Committee for Peace Restoration and Youth Rehabilitation, under the leadership of Dr. Yusuf Ibrahim Kofar Mata.
According to the task force, the arrested individuals included drug peddlers and local thugs. The seized substances comprised cannabis sativa, Diazepam, Exol-5, Pregabalin, rubber solution, and Suck and Die, among other unconventional drugs. The raids targeted known hotspots, including Mariri Yan’itace, Fagge, Badawa, Kasuwar Rimi, Masallacin Idi, Yankaba, Hotoro Flyover, Kofar Mata, Rijiyar Zaki, and Jakara.
Dr. Yusuf Ibrahim Kofar Mata stressed the task force’s commitment to eliminating drug-related crime and ensuring the safety and well-being of residents. Investigations are ongoing, with plans to prosecute offenders and provide rehabilitation support to those struggling with substance abuse.
The NDLEA commander, ACGN A.I. Ahmad, lauded the efforts of NDLEA personnel and thanked the Nigeria Police Force and Kano State Government for their cooperation. Authorities also urged community members to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities, emphasizing that public cooperation is crucial for maintaining a safer environment.
