The tragic incident occurred on Thursday night in Kano metropolis. His death was officially announced by the Kano Emirate Council through its “Sanusi Dynasty” Facebook page.
Alhaji Idris Dankabo was the eldest son of the late Alhaji Muhammad Adamu Dankabo, the businessman and philanthropist who established Kabo Air in 1980. The airline, once a major operator in domestic and international routes, was among the family’s notable contributions to business and development in Kano and beyond.
As Sarkin Gabas, Alhaji Idris held one of the senior titles within the Kano Emirate, a position that carried both cultural and administrative weight. His passing is seen as a major loss that will leave a leadership gap within the traditional institution.
Funeral prayers for the late ruler are scheduled for Friday at 10 a.m. at the Kano Emir’s palace, where Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II is expected to lead the rites.
He is survived by his wife and two children.
