In a statement signed by the board’s Information Officer, Abdullahi Sani Sulaiman, the Executive Secretary, Abba El-Mustapha, explained that the decision was taken to preserve peace, harmony, and compliance within both the entertainment and religious sectors.
The move follows a recent unauthorized debate between Usman Maidubun Isa and Shehi Mai Tajul’izzi, which the board said violated its guidelines.
According to the directive, all debates involving Islamic singers must now be cleared in advance by the board. Failure to comply will attract legal consequences under the Kano State Censorship Law.
To address the incident, a fact-finding committee headed by Malam Isha Abdullahi has been set up to investigate the matter. The board further instructed the singers and their moderators to appear before the committee within 24 hours.
Reiterating its regulatory mandate, the board pledged to continue monitoring Islamic singers and performers in accordance with state law. It also urged residents to remain calm and support its efforts to strengthen peace, order, and cultural development in the state.
