The Guinness World Records (GWR) officially announced the achievement on Monday through its X (formerly Twitter) page, confirming that the feat was accomplished in partnership with Gino Nigeria on Victoria Island, Lagos.

The record-breaking attempt involved a specially built pot with a capacity of 22,619 litres. Baci initially planned to cook with 250 bags of basmati rice, but eventually reduced the number to 200 bags due to weighing limitations. From this, about 4,000 kilogrammes of jollof rice were prepared, enough to serve an estimated 20,000 people.

The atmosphere at the venue was festive, with celebrities, food lovers, and supporters turning out in large numbers. The occasion featured live music and dancing, with prominent figures such as Nollywood star Funke Akindele, Ogun State First Lady Bamidele Abiodun, dancer Kaffy, and singer Spyro joining the celebration.

This is not Hilda Baci’s first Guinness World Record. In 2023, she made history by setting the record for the longest live cook-a-thon by a single chef, spending 72 hours continuously cooking in Lagos. That achievement drew widespread attention, earning her recognition both locally and internationally as one of Nigeria’s most accomplished culinary figures.
