The warning was contained in a communiqué signed by NARD President, Dr. Tope Osundara; General Secretary, Dr. Oluwasola Odunbaku; and Publicity and Social Secretary, Dr. Omoha Amobi, following an Extraordinary National Executive Council (NEC) meeting held virtually on Sunday.
Among the grievances highlighted, the association lamented the government’s failure to pay the 2025 Medical Residency Training Fund to many of its members. It also criticized the delay in settling outstanding salary arrears, particularly those related to the 25% and 35% Consolidated Medical Salary Structure (CONMESS) review. In addition, NARD demanded the immediate settlement of the 2024 Accoutrement Allowance arrears.
The association further called on the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria to reinstate recognition of West African postgraduate membership certificates. It also urged the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria to begin issuing membership certificates to qualified candidates without unnecessary delays.
On state-level matters, NARD urged the Kaduna and Oyo State Governments to swiftly address the welfare challenges faced by resident doctors in their states.
The communiqué warned that failure to meet these demands within the stipulated period would leave the association with no choice but to embark on a nationwide strike.
