Former presidential aide, Reno Omokri, has described Nigeria’s current work system as unfair to Muslims, insisting that the schedule does not adequately accommodate Friday prayers.

Omokri, in a video posted on his Facebook page on Friday, argued that before colonial structures were introduced, Fridays were widely regarded as a day of rest in Muslim communities. He maintained that the existing arrangement forces Muslims to struggle between their religious obligation and work commitments.
He proposed that government and private offices should close earlier on Fridays, with working hours from Monday to Thursday adjusted to cover up for the time. According to him, such a system would neither harm productivity nor weaken the country’s economy, as the hours lost on Friday could easily be redistributed across the week.
Omokri further stressed that a restructured work schedule would ensure fairness for Muslims and allow them to observe Solat Jumaat without disruption, while also creating a balance in a country where both Christians and Muslims play vital roles in the workforce.
