Former Kaduna State Governor, Malam Nasir El-Rufai, has declared that he will not run for any political office in the 2027 elections, saying his priority is to mentor young people, women, and reform-driven Nigerians to take up leadership roles and contribute to building a credible government.

Speaking in Kaduna on Wednesday while receiving a delegation of youths who defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), led by Aliyu Bello, El-Rufai said his focus will be on nurturing the next generation of leaders rather than pursuing personal ambition.
The former governor criticized the current administration, accusing it of “dishonesty and failure,” and described it as oppressive. He called on Nigerians to unite and work towards replacing the government with one built on integrity and service.
El-Rufai explained that although he initially planned to retire from partisan politics after leaving office, recent developments in the country compelled him to return not to contest, but to support credible leadership and promote good governance.
He further urged eligible Nigerians to register and vote, stressing that active participation in elections is the only way to achieve meaningful political change.
