Commander-General of the Hisbah, Sheikh Amin Ibrahim Daurawa, said the board’s activities have been revitalized since Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf assumed office in May 2023, strengthening its role in promoting order and moral values in the state.

Among its major engagements during the year were a mass wedding for 3,800 couples, training sessions for 1,000 officers, distribution of relief materials to orphans, widows, and vulnerable groups, as well as assisting in the coordination of the annual Hajj pilgrimage.

The board currently operates with more than 4,000 officers across all 44 local government areas of Kano State. It also runs several specialized departments, including a women’s unit headed by Dr. Khadija Sagir Suleiman.

Looking ahead, the Kano State Government has announced plans to establish a training school for Hisbah officers, improve welfare packages with better salaries and retirement benefits, provide new equipment, and construct a new headquarters for the board.

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf assured that his administration will continue to support Hisbah in its efforts to promote justice, peace, and moral discipline in Kano.
