The Commander-General of Hisbah, Sheikh Aminu Ibrahim Daurawa, made the disclosure after more than 1,000 youths surrendered their weapons and renounced violence, Daily Post reports.

He explained that the program is in line with Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s agenda to provide young people with opportunities for a decent life.

As part of the process, repentant youths will first undergo police screening, followed by further assessment by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) to confirm their sincerity. Those who successfully complete the process will be supported with start-up funds, vocational training, and educational opportunities to help them build sustainable livelihoods.

Sheikh Daurawa called on other youths still involved in crime to embrace repentance, assuring them of the government’s readiness to assist in their rehabilitation.

Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, welcomed the initiative, stressing that the government is committed to fighting crime while ensuring that young people willing to change are given a second chance.

Youth leaders, including Kamilu and Buzu Mai Kidan Gangi, expressed gratitude to the state government for standing by them and supporting their decision to turn a new leaf.
