The Kano State Road Traffic Agency (KAROTA) has introduced mobile courts to try motorists and tricycle operators who disobey traffic light rules within the metropolis.

The measure, rolled out on Tuesday, follows Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s directive for stricter enforcement of traffic laws and improved safety on the roads.

Speaking at the inauguration, KAROTA Managing Director, Faisal Mahmud Kabir, noted that the government had recently installed several solar-powered traffic lights across the city. He urged residents to reciprocate the investment by respecting traffic regulations.

Kabir explained that with the support of Governor Yusuf’s administration, modern traffic facilities have been provided, and it is now the responsibility of every road user to comply with the rules to ensure safety for all.

He added that the mobile courts will conduct instant trials, ensuring that offenders are prosecuted on the spot. According to him, the initiative is aimed at protecting lives, safeguarding property, and ensuring a free flow of traffic in the state capital.

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Kano Sector Command, has also expressed readiness to support KAROTA in enforcing the initiative, promising to help arrest and prosecute violators.
