In a statement on Tuesday, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, said investigations showed the incident happened on July 10, 2025, at the Coronation Hall of the Kano State Government House, shortly after a ceremony.
He clarified that the case was not linked to the re-run and by-elections held in the state on August 16, as speculated in some quarters.
The investigation revealed that the officers were deployed for security duties at the venue but engaged in acts described as unprofessional. The Command assured residents that disciplinary actions are already underway to preserve the integrity of the police force.
“The Nigeria Police Force remains committed to upholding discipline and ethics while maintaining public trust and confidence,” Kiyawa stated.
The police encouraged members of the public to reach out through its dedicated contact lines for further information or complaints.
