Political parties in Kano State have pledged to maintain peace ahead of the upcoming re-run and bye-elections scheduled for Saturday, August 16, 2025.
The commitment came during a stakeholders meeting organized by the Kano State Police Command on Tuesday at the Police Headquarters.

The meeting brought together candidates and leaders from various political parties contesting in the Ghari/Tsanyawa State Constituency re-run and the Bagwai/Shanono State Constituency bye-election. During the session, all participants signed a peace accord, agreeing to a non-violent and lawful conduct before, during, and after the elections.
Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, PhD, urged all parties to respect the peace accord and warned that any act of lawlessness would be met with swift action. He also assured the public of sufficient security deployment to protect voters, candidates, and party officials throughout the electoral process.
The police command called on all stakeholders to cooperate with security agencies to ensure a peaceful and credible election. Residents were also given emergency contact numbers 08032419754, 08123821575, and 09029292926 to report any security concerns.
