Tambuwal, who governed the state from 2015 to 2023 and is a prominent figure in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), arrived at the EFCC headquarters in Abuja around 11:30 a.m. on Monday for interrogation.

A senior EFCC official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the case involves suspected unauthorised withdrawals from state accounts during Tambuwal’s administration, in violation of the Money Laundering (Prevention and Prohibition) Act, 2022.

The source added that the investigation has been ongoing for months, with evidence pointing to what investigators describe as suspicious movement of public funds.

EFCC spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, declined to give details, stating that the commission would issue an official statement after the questioning is completed.

Tambuwal, who also served as Speaker of the House of Representatives from 2011 to 2015, has yet to comment on the allegations.
