Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has boosted youth empowerment in Kano State by distributing tools and resources to 1,130 graduates from six entrepreneurship institutes.

The event took place on Saturday at Coronation Hall, Government House, Kano, marking a renewed commitment to reducing unemployment and encouraging self-reliance among young people.

Speaking at the ceremony, Governor Yusuf explained that the empowerment packages are designed to provide practical support alongside certificates, enabling graduates to start or expand their businesses. He noted that these institutes were originally founded under former Governor Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso but had been closed by the previous administration. His government has since revived them to equip youths with relevant skills for economic growth.

“Today marks the beginning of your entrepreneurial journey,” Governor Yusuf said, urging graduates to nurture the tools and capital they have received into successful ventures that will benefit their families and Kano’s economy.

Graduates received sector-specific support, including laptops and phone repair kits for Informatics students, bulls and veterinary supplies for Livestock graduates, driving licenses for Driving Institute attendees, modern gardening tools for Horticulture students, fingerlings and equipment for Fisheries graduates, and digital cameras for Film Institute trainees.

Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso, through NNPP National Chairman Dr. Ahmad Ajuji, applauded the government’s efforts to revive the institutes and empower youth.

The Emir of Kano, Mallam Muhammadu Sanusi II, also commended Governor Yusuf’s leadership through his Chief of Staff, Alhaji Munir Sanusi, recognizing the initiative’s positive impact on the state’s development.
