Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has told political appointees and civil servants in the state to voluntarily step down if they cannot live up to the principles of honesty and accountability.

He gave the warning during the 30th Executive Council Meeting held on Wednesday at the Government House, Kano, following the resignation of the Commissioner for Transportation, Alhaji Ibrahim Namadi Dala, who stepped down after being linked to the bail process of a suspected drug offender.
“Let it be clear. We will not tolerate any conduct, whether official or private, that undermines the values we stand for. Every public official must be vigilant and responsible in their dealings. You are not only representing your office but the integrity of the entire administration,” the governor said.
He added that the resignation should serve as a wake-up call to all appointees and warned that anyone found engaging in acts that could damage the image of the administration would not be spared.
Governor Yusuf also reiterated that the fight against drug abuse, trafficking, and other societal vices remains central to his administration’s agenda. He said anyone caught aiding or abetting such acts, directly or indirectly, would face the full weight of the law.
“We came into office with a clear mandate to restore sanity, integrity, and progress in Kano. That mission will not be compromised,” he declared.
He urged his cabinet members to serve as examples for the rest of the society and conduct themselves in line with the core values of good governance.
