The committee, led by Barrister Aminu Hussaini, presented its final report to the Secretary to the State Government on Monday. The investigation centred on claims that the commissioner facilitated the bail of a suspect allegedly involved in trafficking dangerous drugs.
In carrying out its mandate, the committee said it engaged relevant stakeholders, reviewed key documents, interviewed witnesses, and examined the legal procedures followed in the bail process.
According to the committee, the investigation aimed to uphold justice and ensure that any decisions taken by the government are grounded in verified facts and due process.
In a statement reaffirming its stance, the Kano State Government emphasized its commitment to the rule of law and accountability, declaring that no official will be shielded from consequences if found culpable.
The probe was triggered by allegations that Commissioner Namadi initially offered to act as surety for Sulaiman Aminu Danwawu, a suspect facing drug trafficking charges at the Federal High Court in Kano. According to court records, the judge had imposed stringent bail conditions requiring a serving commissioner to stand guarantor. Namadi accepted this role but later withdrew from the arrangement amid public scrutiny .
Furthermore, a confidential report from the State Security Service (SSS) alleges that Namadi received $30,000 from Danwawu as a bribe in exchange for offering himself as surety.
